Nobody can lead anything effectively without a clear vision of where they want to go.

It is not essential that you have an all singing all dancing Action Plan in order to develop yourself or your staff but it is necessary for you to have a very clear idea of what you want you or the business to achieve.

You can call it a vision, a strategy or a goal plan. What you call it doesn’t really matter but what it MUST have is inspiration. When you review your plan it should be so inspiring that you just can’t wait to get started on it and if it’s not inspiring then you will need to spend some time re-thinking and rewriting it until you feel happy that it is.

The following may help bring the action into your action plan.

How do you want your business/life to look in three – five years time?

What new skills will be needed to ensure growth?

Have you shared your thoughts with anyone?

Have you a clear, written plan that is reviewed?

Creating a Vision for Your Business or Your Life

When you have a vision for your business or your personal future goals, it’s not enough just to keep thinking about it, hoping and assuming that others will know or even understand what it is you want for the future, why these things are important and just what plans you have in mind for the steps on the way to the goal achievement.

It is important for you to articulate, for yourself and for the people involved, exactly what it is you want your business to achieve or your personal action plan to achieve.

You may of course want to keep your personal goals to yourself and not share these with anyone. This works very well if there is no one else involved but if your goal is to raise a family or move home it is essential that you share these goals with the people who will be involved and can help you with your achievements.
